In todays generation, Editing is quick/cheap and also easy to use.
Analogue Technology . . .
Initial Editing of all films was done with positive copy of the films, Negative film workprint.
This was done physically cutting and pasting together pieces of film, Using a splicer and threading the film on a mchine.
In the past, the use of film positive allowed the director to do as much experiment as he or she wished, Without the risk of damaging the original.
Limitations . . .
Had to be very skilled to do edit properly
Fake like: Didnt seem realistic
Splicing damaged the original, The loss of quality.
Analog tape can be erased or destroyed accidentally and this can happen at the worst time.
Advantage's . . .
The recording does not degrade over time. As long as the numbers can be read, You will always get exactly the same wave.
